What to expect when you arrive?

We are located on the corner of University and Park Avenue downtown Riverside. It’s located between the 91 Freeway and 60 Freeway on University, about 2 miles from the University of Riverside. You can call (951) 684-7532 if you have additional questions. Our office is open Monday thru Friday from 8 am to 4 pm.

We have special parking allocated for first time visitors located on Park Avenue located south, across from the church building. Once you enter the sanctuary, you will be friendly greeters or Ushers to assist you.

Where should I take my children?

It is our belief that children need an exciting church home. SBC has special services for our children and youth. Children and Youth can enter worship with you until after Praise & Worship. They will then be excuse to attend Youth & Children’s Church in the 2nd floor/Fellowship Hall. The Nursery is available for younger children, ages 3 thru 5, located on the 1st floor.

Our Youth Pastor and Youth Leaders are there to make the Bible plain for our youngest members. Lessons are easy to understand and there is always a take home sheet to continue the lesson.

What service is like?

Although SBC is predominantly African-American, we welcome people from all backgrounds, cultures and religions.

There is NO DRESS Code expectation. However, attendees tend to wear more traditional clothing or relaxed wear. We want you to come as you are.

The service is contemporary in style with a mix of traditional and non-traditional elements, depending on the day’s events. Services last about 90-minutes and you will be surprised how fast the time flies once you enter the presence of God through praise and worship.

Our Pastor, T. Ellsworth Gantt II always provides message notes on the screen, and you can also request the outline from the church office during the week. Pastor also encourages you to bring your Bible with you. You’re encourage to participate in our worship by singing, clapping and raising your hands to heaven.

To assist those new to church, we have an incredible multi-media ministry that includes screen presentations, announcements and message notes.

What about after the service?

If you would like to meet with evangelists/preachers, please come forward during invitation. Our ministers will pray with you. You can also unite with SBC at any time following Service you can also meet our Pastor and his wife.
